Academic

Globe Cambridge High School offers academic enrichment in the following three areas:

  i) Ontario’s exceptional Curriculum Standards

ii) Cultural studies focused on Chinese culture, philosophy and history

iii) Guided, Individualized Academic Pathway Planning

  i) Ontario Curriculum Expectations

Ontario’s Education Act stipulates that students are required to obtain 30 high school credits (18 compulsory and 12 optional) in order to graduate. Students are also responsible to complete a minimum of 40 Community Service Hours, and successfully obtain a minimum of 70% in Ontario’s standardized Literacy Test (OSSLT). With guidance from the Principal and members of the Academic Advisory Committee, all students may choose optional courses according to their interests and their choice of university major. Upon successful completion, all students will receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, as well as a prestigious Ontario Scholar Certificate if their ‘Top 6’ average is an 80%+ upon graduation.

  ii) Chinese Cultural Studies

Chinese Cultural Studies allows students to experience a deeper learning of Chinese Confucianism, History and Literacy. These courses are inspired and led by Ontario Humanities teachers, visiting university professors, and famous Chinese literary experts.

iii) Guided, Individualized Academic Pathway Planning

A distinctive service of Globe’s is the Individualized Pathway Planning for EACH student. This service offers individual counselling, academic pathway planning, post-secondary pre-requisite planning and detailed curriculum guidance in the disciplines of the six major faculties of: Humanities, Mathematics, Science, The Arts, Business and Education. This service is individualized according to each individual student’s academic strengths and career/post-secondary aspirations supported by a trained University Pathway Guidance Counsellor and guided and supervised by the Ontario Principal.
