  Internship Opportunities

Under Ontario’s Ministry of Education guidelines, the school will provide students with advisors to secure volunteer placements and/or internships at local service organizations or businesses that are complimentary to students’ future career aspirations. With these opportunities, they will experience and be exposed to different cultures’ service and business systems and expectations, gaining invaluable insights through community engagement.

Reason 2: Rigorous and Engaging Campus Atmosphere

During students’ study period in China and Canada, they are required to abide by Globe Cambridge’s Students’ Code of Conduct while respecting and representing Globe’s school spirit of being kind, friendly, self-motivated and respectful. Students will be held to the prescribed protocol of abstaining of any unhealthy behaviors/choices, and will be guided towards maturing with self-awareness, purposeful social responsibilities and respect for cultural diversities.

  Reason 3: Academic Excellence

  I. Small Classes

As part of Globe’s educational philosophy of focusing on individual student’s abilities and achievements, there will be no more than 15-20 students in each class offering the optimum level of student-to-teacher engagement.

  II. Student Admissions

Student candidates will be personally interviewed by the Academic Committee of Globe Cambridge High School including senior members of Hubei Lindaiqiu Wutonghu Middle School. Each candidate will complete oral, written and comprehension evaluations to ensure that the highest standards of academic standards are met and sustained at Globe.

  III. Responsible Mentorship

Throughout the four-year program, every student will be assigned a Guidance Counsellor whose main responsibility is to set up a customized education plan based on the interests, academic aptitude and personal aspirations of the student.

  IV. Excellent English-Speaking Environment

GCHS embraces the Western teaching and training methodologies which aim to develop students’ creativity, self-efficacy and appreciation of individual strengths and career pathways. With such academic guidance, students improve their abilities of critical thinking, comprehension of English literature, and higher thinking skills through a rigorous and innovative teaching and learning program.

  V. Mathematics

Mathematics has a significant focus at Globe. Globe’s Specialized Mathematics Program provides a profound mathematics learning experience for students. As such, math-oriented students have many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular Math Contests like the Waterloo math contest, USAD and the International Mathematics Olympics which support their university application process. Students in Grades 11 and 12 will also have opportunities to learn University Foundation courses such as Mathematics, Finance, Data Management, Economics and Computer Science to better prepare them for the curricular expectations of university.

  VI. The Arts

YiLan Art Association, a subsidiary of Globe Academy, aims to improve cultural awareness and exceptional art talent while exposing students to international horizons of the art world. The Association also focuses on the cultivation of students in the four aspects of: Art Literacy, Chinese Humanities, English Language Proficiency and the creation of students’ Art Portfolios. During these students’ study period, they are required to attend and study at a designated Art High School in North America for a minimum of one semester to deepen their exposure to The Arts and widen their scope of art appreciation. These exclusive opportunities are designed to support students in achieving their goals within The Arts discipline while providing them with academic and experiential advantages over other university candidates.

  VII. Sciences

In the science realm at Globe schools, the teaching methods adopt theme-based inquiry-learning modes to scientifically develop students’ research abilities. Skills acquisition encompass observation, analysis, scientific methodologies with critical discussions and accurate scientific lab reporting. Students in Grades 11 and 12 will achieve a higher level of learning through the experiential studying experiences in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

  VIII. Chinese Culture

Alongside the compulsory and optional curriculum system in Canada, Globe Cambridge HS also provides students with the continuum of Chinese Culture Studies. Students who are interested in pursuing post-secondary Chinese Humanities are especially guided to participate in the Program’s offerings to enable them to focus deeply on Chinese literature, history, philosophy, art and art history while simultaneously acquiring their Ontario High School Diploma.

  IX. Focused Learning & Training

Each subject area adopts thematic inquiry-based teaching methodologies which is a form of learning or pedagogy which integrates design thinking, and the learning-by-doing process of deeper learning. This process is supported while students engage in independent learning, cooperative learning and kinesthetic research-based studying. Through these teaching methods, students develop authentic learning skills to better synthesize information, achieving outstanding academic performances preparing them for acceptance into world-class universities.

  Reason 4: Global Competition

  Broadening Students’ Global Horizons

Students will be guided by their Guidance Counsellors to participate extensively in international research-based projects focusing on Humanities, Mathematics, Science, The Arts, Business and Education. Students involved in the study of international issues become more likely to have broader-based learning opportunities in universities. These students are better equipped to understand global societies and diverse cultures’ needs creating more purposeful and global-minded citizens, and better equipped university students.

  Leadership, Independence & Nutrition

Through guiding students in their academic learning while nurturing home-school partnerships, GCHS has established and sustained outstanding teacher/mentor/counsellor relationships with the students. With these partnerships, Globe has achieved rigorous academic expectations and genuine caring atmospheres which have all contributed to the cultivation of students being psychologically and physiologically healthy and well-balanced. Along with Globe’s focus on nutritious meal-planning, students benefit from an all-encompassing approach to their health and well-being as well as their rigorous study schedule. With all the support Globe offers, students are independently motivated to successfully apply to the world’s most prestigious universities.

  Reason 5: Academic Success

Globe Cambridge High School’s fundamental goal is to achieve 100% enrollment into the world’s ‘Top Universities’. The aim is to guide students’ acceptance into Canada’s Top 5 universities like University of Toronto, McGill, Waterloo, McMaster and UBC; Top 50 in the United States like, MIT, Standford, Browns, Duke, Columbia, Yale; Top 20 in the U.K. like Cambridge, Leeds, and Oxford: as well as other famous specialized universities including OCAD (Ontario University of Art and Design), SHERIDAN (Sheridan College of Art), London School of Arts, or Rhode Island College of Art for further studies.

After an extensive four years of study at Globe, our students will obtain the distinguished Canadian, Ontario High School Diploma. Having been immersed in life and studies in an extensive three-year program on-site in our Canadian secondary school, they are university-prepped and are part of China’s few top students with the opportunity to apply to a world- famous university. This advantage is much greater than that of any mainland Chinese high school graduate. Top universities mainly consider high school graduates from European or North American secondary schools because their education is guaranteed, regulated and accredited by authentic governing councils. Universities have experienced distorted and fraudulent applications from many mainland Chinese schools and are frequently now questioning the authenticity of international candidates’ diplomas and learning experiences/abilities. Globe’s students have a distinguished, credible advantage.

  Family-School Partnership

Along with education experts, Globe values the limitless impact that family members have in students’ positive growth and academic successes. Through cooperation with parents, GCHS will guide and support their students’ daily lives by balancing healthy daily choices and positive academic reinforcements while mitigating any negative choices and/or influences. With the guidance of both parents and teachers/counsellors and mentors, students will complete their first year of study combining the basic compulsory courses while advancing their English abilities. In the next three years, they will be able to maximize the resources provided by GCHS with clear academic pathways leading to their university and career goals.

  Reason 6: Abundant Extra-curricular Activities

During the first year of study at the Wuhan Campus, followed by the three-year study period at the Port Hope Campus, students will participate in a variety of compulsory and elective activities such as soccer, hiking, cycling, basketball, field hockey, track and field, dance, clubs and team activities all guided and supervised by professional teachers. Students will have the opportunity to take part in weekly sports leagues and sports training, all designed to help minimize stress, maximize learning, while developing students' fitness, leadership, teamwork skills and promoting exceptional character development.

GCHS also regularly organizes many activities to help expand and expose students to diverse cultural experiences. At the Port Hope Campus, boarding life offers experiences that off-campus living simply cannot. In Spring we have the Maple Syrup Marvel and memorable river races such as, Float Your Fanny. Warm weather brings about wonderous hiking trails and nature walks with art and sketching, artisans and handicraft exhibitions, and unique local cultural activities. Additionally, we have Bruce Trail Walks, endless beach activities, Canadian National Day celebrations which include parades, music, entertainment and fireworks and the Wesleyville Stroll. In the Fall, students can enjoy the historic Port Hope Fall Fair, the Annual Trout Migration and the House Tour. Christmastime in Port Hope is the busiest time of year with the Festival of Trees, the Lighting of the Memorial Park, the Candlelight Walk and the Santa Claus Parade all coming together to enlighten and broaden students’ experiences.
